Books by Dr Moshe Feldenkrais
| Awareness Through Movement |
$30 |
| Dr Feldenkrais’ classic work, and a must for every Feldenkrais enthusiast. Moshe presents his “health exercises for personal growth” in twelve practical lessons. He also provides a clear description for understanding the Feldenkrais Method®. |
| |
| Collected Articles & Interviews |
$25 |
| This collection consists of a comprehensive gathering of published articles by and interviews with Moshe Feldenkrais. It includes 8 articles by Dr Feldenkrais and 4 lengthy interviews. The subject matter of the articles ranges from learning, health and healing to awareness, bodily expression and emotions. Bound photocopies. |
| |
| In this classic work, Dr Feldenkrais explains how Judo training educates one to be “independent of heritage”. This phrase is the keynote and hallmark of this treatise. It is written for the student who has some rudimentary knowledge of Judo and to whom a clearer understanding of the principles of Judo practice should be of great value. Dr Feldenkrais made a serious study of the subject, himself attaining Black Belt efficiency. He studied and analysed Judo as a scientist in the light of the laws of physics, physiology and psychology, and he reports the results in this book, which is enlightening and satisfying. |
| |
| This beautiful booklet contains Feldenkrais’s clearest statement about the basic ideas underlying Awareness Through Movement and how to approach doing a lesson. |
| |
| The Case of Nora, Body Awareness as Healing Therapy is a brilliant case study of a woman who suffered a severe and debilitating stroke. It is the most extensive account available of Feldenkrais’ individual work with Functional Integration. The reader is taken on a safari through the “jungle of the brain”, as Feldenkrais explains how he teaches Nora to see, read, write, walk and function in the world once again. |
| |
| An edited transcript of a workshop taught by Dr Feldenkrais, this work brings greater clarity to the relationship between theory and practice through the theoretical discussions and movement experiences that are interwoven throughout the book. The reader is encouraged to do the movement lessons while progressing through the book. The movement directions are clear and the themes are engaging, making this a useful addition to the Feldenkrais aficionado’s library. |
| |
| Moshe’s second book on the theory and practice of the Feldenkrais Method® is available after being out of print for some time, and includes a new 26 page foreword by Mark Reese. The Potent Self is concerned with the melding of theory and practice, the relationships between habit, emotion, motivation and posture, and the creation of a new technique for addressing human difficulties. The foundations of both ATM & FI are articulated here in more depth than in any of Dr Feldenkrais’ other writings. A must for every Feldenkrais practitioner’s library. |
| |

Rollerama: lessons with a roller |
$45 |
3 audio cassettes, 6 movement lessons, 30 minutes each. An excellent resource and a quote from Ralph Hadden:
“
Feldenkrais practitioners use foam rollers as an excellent aid to their individual work with clients, but the rollers can also be used in group sessions. Recently I found myself with a surplus of rollers, so I gave a series of lessons with rollers to students in my ongoing weekly classes. I enjoyed teaching the lessons that are in this tape set but more importantly, the students LOVED the lessons. The found, as practitioners do in Functional Integration lessons, that the rollers greatly assisted the release of muscle tension, especially in the back, to create a smooth flowing movement, along with a clarification of balance & improvement in co-ordinated control. |
| |
| Hadden, Ralph |
Six Primary Directions |
$39 |
| Co-ordinating movement of the whole body in the 6 main directions. This series is good for back health and is an excellent introduction to the Feldenkrais MethodÒ. This set of ATMs evolved from Ralph’s FI practice. Especially with clients who had back problems, he generally ensured that they learnt to move their proximal body easily in these 6 main patterns. With these co-ordinations more assimilated into the clients’ functioning they tended to create less strain in particular problem areas. These lessons are useful for beginners, and for practitioners in teaching ATM & FI. 6 lessons, 3 tapes. |

The Moment Where We Begin…
An exploration between intention and action. Alan asks “When and how do our thoughts and intentions turn into actions? How often do we unknowingly create unnecessary work for ourselves? How can we become more like we imagine ourselves to be?” The significance of understanding these questions, he says, is key to accurately fulfilling our objectives in life. This 4 CD set inquires into the moment between intention and action. By discovering how we initiate the things we do we can improve our efficiency, reduce our discomfort and create a life more to our liking. |
| |
The Pleasure of Challenge…..The Challenge of Pleasure…
.Again, Alan asks you “Did you ever think it could be a challenge for you to have more pleasure in your life? Or could you imagine experiencing greater pleasure when you are faced with a challenge?” Pleasure and challenge – experiences that are often considered exclusive of one another, are explored in this series.
These CDs provide an exciting, innovative and safe look at the above themes. The ATMs are well explained, clear, showing Alan’s gift with teaching the work. They are an ideal part of the practitioner’s library, with excellent material for beginners and aficionados alike. |

| “Give me a place to stand, and I can move the world” Archimedes. |
The desire to be effective in giving Functional Integration® lessons is often thwarted by not knowing precisely where to begin and how to proceed. In 1979, Feldenkrais delineated what he called the “Archimedean Lever”.
Simply stated, each person uniquely organises him/herself from a certain point or area. Moshe said that from this point he could move a person’s Universe. With the ability to see and sense that point, once can give lessons that address and shift both the “how” and “what” of the Functional Integration® dynamics. In this 2 day, FI based workshop, you can watch Dennis elucidate the concept of the “Lever” through FI demonstrations, lecture and generous individual instruction.

Improving the Carriage of the Head |
$215 |
| Advanced Training 4 video set. |
Dr Feldenkrais emphasised the importance of the carriage of the head and neck in human functioning. In this advanced training, Feldenkrais Trainer Mark Reese shares his in-depth studies of the carriage of the head in both Functional Integration and Awareness Through Movement.
The ATM lessons are done in many different positions and lead toward larger movements in space such as getting up and down. The FI work parallels the ATM lessons. It also emphasises the co-ordination between the neck, chest, spine and pelvis, and the essential proximal movements of the upper thorax, C-7 and the base of the neck. The video set is an excellent guide, especially for practitioners. Mark Reese is a graduate of the first US Feldenkrais Training. He has taught in more than 30 Trainings, and has given advanced trainings around the world. |
